A Frosty Deep Dive
ALL ABOUT FROSTING
What is Frosting?
Frosting is a creamy, smooth, and spreadable heavy-duty synthetic firearm lubricant, designed to deliver outstanding lubrication and protection across a wide range of platforms and conditions. Available in multiple purpose-built formulas, Frosting lets you match the lubricant to your shooting needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all solution. High-visibility colors make bottle identification quick and easy and allow for simple visual spot checks on treated firearm surfaces.
HOW DO THE NEEDLE TIPS WORK?
Frosting bottles use standard Luer Lock needle tips that are interchangeable and screw on and off with a simple twist. Each Frosting includes a recommended tip and an alternate tip so you can adjust flow to the job, with smaller tips for precision and larger tips for faster coverage. Larger tips can also be helpful in colder conditions, while thinner frostings pair well with smaller tips for maximum control.
Why Use Firearm Frostings?
Each Firearm Frosting formula is built for real-world use and tested to meet the expectations of serious shooters. They provide long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion, reduce friction and wear, stay put under recoil, and keep performing in extreme temperatures. You will feel the difference through long strings of fire when everything stays gliding on a creamy, slick layer of Frosting. The easily identifiable vibrant colors and signature scents also make maintenance easier and more enjoyable.
Explain the 3 main Frostings To Me
Blueberry Barrier (Thick)
A heavy-duty lubricant built for long guns, suppressed fire, high-volume shooting, and high-heat environments. It stays put under intense heat and sustained workload, delivering dependable protection during extended firing sessions.
Key Lime Glide (Balanced)
A versatile, all-purpose formula ideal for everyday shooting across a wide range of firearms and conditions. Smooth, steady, and reliable, it’s the perfect middle-ground frosting for most shooters and most conditions.
Dragon Fruit Drip (Thin)
A thin, precision-focused lubricant designed for tight tolerances, delicate actions, and extremely cold conditions. Its fast-flowing nature reaches deep friction points for crisp, consistent performance where precision matters most.
What is the best synthetic gun lube?
Firearm Frosting and here's why: it delivers the durability and performance shooters look for. It holds up through recoil, resists burn off, protects against corrosion, and keeps firearms running smooth in tough conditions. When it comes to picking the best formula, that depends on your setup since each Frosting shines in different environments and applications. Directions For Use
Clear, unload, and field strip firearm. Clean and degrease thoroughly. Apply to high friction and wear points as needed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Reassemble and shoot safely! Always lube after cleaning, and before shooting if needed.
NOTE: Regular maintenance of your firearms is paramount. Check stored weapons periodically and re-lube if necessary to maintain protection.
Can I use any frosting on any gun type?
Yes. All Firearm Frostings can be used on any firearm type. Suggested use cases are design guidelines, not restrictions. In average temperatures, any Frosting will apply well on any gun. When choosing which one to use, factor in temperature and ease of application. Different conditions and use cases may call for different frostings, and that flexibility is by design.
In the field, outside temperature mainly affects application, not performance. Thicker frostings can be harder to dispense in cold environments. For example, Blueberry Barrier is intentionally very thick to handle high-heat abuse but may not flow easily from the bottle when cold. In those cases, a larger, lower-gauge needle can improve flow (one reason why interchangeable needle options are offered) or you can switch to a thinner frosting like Dragon Fruit Drip. Once applied, a Frosting will continue to perform as intended even if the firearm is later exposed to colder temperatures.
Is Frosting safe for all firearms?
Frosting is safe for use on nearly all modern firearms when used as intended. It contains no harsh solvents and is designed to be compatible with common firearm materials and finishes.
Frosting is a synthetic, non-soap formulation chosen for chemical stability and consistent performance in firearm applications. It is generally compatible with older steels and finishes as well.
As with any firearm lubricant, always follow manufacturer care guidelines. Extra care may be appropriate with antique or collectible firearms, uncommon legacy finishes, or experimental coatings. When in doubt, apply lightly and test a small amount in an inconspicuous area before full application.
Can Frosting be used with other lubricants or coatings?
For best results, use Frosting as the primary lubricant rather than blending products. Clean previous lubricant from surfaces before applying Frosting.
CAN I PUT FROSTING ON OTHER STUFF?
Sure. Frosting is primarily formulated for firearms and that's where it shines but it can be handy for everything metal. It performs well on light-duty mechanical parts such as hinges, latches, and tools or anything else that squeaks, sticks, or slides. Not for food-contact or high-speed industrial use. Use safely at your own discretion.
Is frosting made in the USA?
Yes. American made right here in NJ where we are based.
How should I store Frosting?
Store Frosting in a cool, dry place with the twist cap securely closed. Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. Proper storage helps maintain performance over time.
What if my frosting separates or thickens?
Shake or reblend by stirring before use.
Can I Eat The Frosting?
No. Frosting feeds machines, not people. Your firearms can always come back for seconds though!
"Wife Said I Can Only Get One..."
That is rough... sounds like there is some friction... Key Lime Glide can smooth that out for you. It is our most versatile recipe with a balanced viscosity for true all-around capability. It will not steer you wrong no matter what you put it on.
Is Firearm Frosting the same as barrel frosting?
No. Firearm Frosting is not related to barrel frosting, barrel wear, barrel surface conditions, or any gunsmithing term used to describe the interior appearance of a firearm barrel.
Firearm Frosting is a firearm lubricant brand and lubrication system. The word “frosting” refers only to the product’s visual style and controlled application, similar to applying a coating where it is needed. Firearm Frosting products are used during routine firearm maintenance on moving and contact surfaces and do not modify, treat, or interact with barrel interiors.
